Event — Lecture at conference »Affects – Media – Power«. Part of »Session 1: Theoretical Approaches«
The »affective turn« has been primarily concerned not with what affect is, but what it does. My presentation will focus on another shift towards how affect gets organized, which means produced, classified and controlled. I will propose a genealogical approach to the organization of affect and distinguish between several »affect disposition regimes« – and then make use of this genealogical framework for a critical assessment of Bernard Stiegler’s philosophy of media and technology. His concept of psychopower will be revised to include the emerging affective media on one hand and the emerging interpretation of affects as events on the other hand.
